MES Recognized for MCAS Achievement

Principal Mahedy and Massachusetts Commissioner of Education, Pedro Martinez at the Celebrating Academic Success Conference. M.E. Small was recognized as one of 92 schools (out of 15,000 in the state) to reach pre-pandemic achievement on the MCAS! Such a great honor and a culmination of hard work by our students and teachers!

In the World of Physical Education

The Preschool students are just about finished with their soccer unit and are moving onto a floor gymnastics unit where they will be working on putting weight on their hands while doing bear walks, crab walks, seal walks, bunny and inchworm travels. They will also have a chance to make up their own animal travels. We will also work on log or pencil rolls as well as egg rolls. We finish with creating monkey jumps and mule kicks. The Kindergarten to Third Grade students are finishing up their Native American/Indigenous People and Pilgrim Games where they explored the types of games and toys played during Colonial Days such as Marbles, Jacks, Jacob's Ladder, Snow Snake, I Call I Call, Ball in Cup, Tops and many more. They will also be moving onto Floor Gymnastics and will do all that the Preschoolers do as well as adding forward rolls, cartwheels, and roundoffs! Just a friendly reminder that students should wear sneakers on the days that they come into the gymnasium so as the weather turns wet and snowy please be sure to place your child's sneakers in their backpacks! Thank you, Ms. Buron
