In the World of Physical Education

WOW!! I want to thank everyone who donated to the American Heart Association during our annual MES Kids Heart Challenge! As a school we raised a total of $3,439.56! We had 42 students register online and we had 6 students complete Finn's Mission learning how to do hands only CPR! The school will receive gift certificates at US Games to purchase more equipment for the kiddos!
My last few classes are finishing up their jump roping units and all students in grades Kindergarten to Grade Three will be starting their basketball unit where we will working on dribbling the ball with both our dominant and nondominant hands, chest pass, bounce pass, led pass, shooting the hoop as well as playing offense and defense!
My preschool students will be starting a dance unit next while learning how to do the Hokey Pokey, Chicken Dance, Limbo, Bunny Hop, Twist, YMCA, and the Cha Cha Slide. In addition the students will get time to have free dance and move with ribbons!
As always, if your student has outgrown their old sneakers and they are in okay shape and no longer needed, please consider donating them to the shoe rack in the gymnasium. These hand me down sneakers are used when students forget their sneakers for Physical Education but also when sneakers get soaked while out at recess, if shoes fall apart at school or if the proper footwear is worn for a field trip! These sneakers get many uses so if you no longer need them please donate them! Thank You, Ms. Buron

A Reminder Regarding: ELECTRONIC GAMES, TOYS, CELL PHONES, SMART WATCHES, and TRADING CARDS

As per our Handbook: "Because of the age of our students and the expense of the above items, we request that these items REMAIN AT HOME. Lost or traded items have caused problems in the past, both on the bus and in school. Only in special circumstances will such items be permitted at school. Thank you in advance for your cooperation."

A Message from Ms. Bassett

Every spring, I have the pleasure of having a student from DY high school work with me a few hours a day to learn all about working with kids and what it means to be a school social worker! These high school students are extremely hard working, and eager to be a part of our ME Small community. The students at our school get the chance to know them and benefit from having a role model right here in their school. This year, we have Rafaela (Miss Raf), joining us. It is extra special because she is an ME Small alum herself!
  • Miss Bassett

Hi everyone! My name is Rafaela Prebianchi. I'm a senior at DY high school, and a part of the work based learning program that allows students to work in the field they want to study in the future. I plan to attend college and study psychology! I’m also bilingual and speak Portuguese.  I’m excited to be a part of the MES community, and work with Ms. Bassett and her students.

Cape Kids Meals-Weekend Meal Program

How it Works:
  1. Schools work with families to determine participation.
  2. Shelf stable food is purchased from the Greater Boston Food Band and other retail stores.
  3. Bags are packed weekly at one of Cape Kid Meals packing centers.
  4. CKM provides a bag filled with easy to prepare meals and snacks to help last them through the weekend.
  5. Bags are delivered to the schools each week.
  6. Bags are placed discreetly into a child’s backpack by school personnel before dismissal.
  7. The entire program is confidential-only the schools know who is participating.
