In the World of Physical Education

So all classes have wrapped up their dancing units and everyone from preschool through third grade are in full swing of our floor hockey unit. In this unit we start with a relay running warm up called Survivor where students are divided into one of four teams. Each team starts in a different corner of the gymnasium. I set up dome cones in the middle of the gym in the shape of a mini running track. One player from each team starts the race by running as fast as they can and try to pass as many people as they can. If they get passed, their turn is over and they sit themselves down in the center of the running track and the next player from their team starts running in their place. Last person standing along with their teammates wins the warm up. We then switch gears to floor hockey and start by discussing the differences and similarities between: floor hockey, street hockey, ice hockey and field hockey. We then discuss the parts of the stick and the grip of the stick. Preschoolers, kindergarteners and first graders use a pilo polo stick which looks like a one sided Q-tip. While my second and third graders use youth floor hockey sticks. Skills we work on include: stick handling, push passes, passing to a partner, slap shots, playing offense and defense and we finish the unit with modified game play. Ms. Buron

New DYRSD Bus Transportation Request for the 2026–2027 School Year

The district has a new transportation request process for the 2026–2027 school year. Families must fill out a transportation form for each student to let us know if bus service is needed for next school year. Please login to ParentSquare to complete the form whether or not your student will ride the bus.
To make sure transportation is ready for the first day of school in September, forms must be turned in by June 25.
Forms turned in after June 25 may not be processed before school starts. Returning students who do not submit a form by the deadline will not automatically receive bus transportation. Families will need to submit a late request, which could cause a delay in service.
*Please note that this is for regular bus routes only, not specialized transportation.
Weekly reminders will be sent to families who have not yet completed the form.
If you have any questions or need any assistance please reach out to your child's school.
Thank you for your attention to this important deadline.

Cape Kids Meals-Weekend Meal Program

How it Works:
  1. Schools work with families to determine participation.
  2. Shelf stable food is purchased from the Greater Boston Food Band and other retail stores.
  3. Bags are packed weekly at one of Cape Kid Meals packing centers.
  4. CKM provides a bag filled with easy to prepare meals and snacks to help last them through the weekend.
  5. Bags are delivered to the schools each week.
  6. Bags are placed discreetly into a child’s backpack by school personnel before dismissal.
  7. The entire program is confidential-only the schools know who is participating.
